The One Reason You Keep Dragging Your Feet When You Know You Need to Start Working on Your Business.
There’s been no better time to take inventory of where you are in business than now.
If you’re anything like me, I look back on most of 2020 as a blur. I took advantage of the time I wasn’t spending in a car to expand my work hours. There was plenty of client work from people who had grown their business by referrals only. When face-to-face conversations aren’t possible, your online presence and marketing need to increase.
Having plenty of client work is a double-edged sword. On one hand, you feel good knowing revenue is coming in while you help someone solve their problem. On the other hand, you can be so busy you don’t have time to look up and focus on nurturing your pipeline or paying attention to where your business is going. You get stuck in a comfortable rut. Little seems wrong when money is coming in the door.
What Is the Story You Tell Yourself?
Small business owners are living in a unique time. Never in our lifetime have we seen more opportunities to reinvent ourselves and our business.
The disruptions in how we do business (actually, how we do most everything) gives us permission to try something new. It shoots down the voice in our heads that tells us “You can’t do it that way. It’s never been done.”
If you’ve been stuck, paralyzed, or afraid to do _____________, I’m asking you why?
What’s holding you back? What’s is the story you are telling yourself?”
Two years ago, an advisor suggested I needed to lead others to build the company they dreamed of having.
The conversation inside of my head went like this…
“How would I ever DO that? How could I possibly get there? And (as an Enneagram 1 who wants to make sure I’m doing it right)…where is the instruction manual to start?”
What my advisor saw was that I had been doing it all along…Mentoring others to live their dreams and build the business or life they wanted. I walk with them, connecting resources along the way.
The Turning Point Starts Here
The next step was the biggest one anyone can take.
It’s not deciding to start. It’s being willing to let go of where you are.
Deciding you are not going to stay where you are is PIVOTAL to your future success.
Once I let go of the idea of staying, the world opened up. Since I didn’t have a road map, I started with an easy task.
What happened then was MAGIC! 🎊 Movement causes momentum (thanks to my friend, Mike Kim, for that nudge). Things started to happen and I couldn’t be more excited about what’s ahead. 🎉🔥🙌🏼
